15. Midway question! Tell us about a writer you admire, whether professional or not!
Oh, boy, well, I’ve certainly gushed about Neil Gaiman more than once so I’ll gush about somebody else for a while.
My go-to comfort writer (professional category) is Jennifer Crusie. Bad day? Feeling gloomy? Need the literary equivalent of chocolate? Must be time to read Bet Me again, or Faking It, or Fast Women … Crusie doesn’t write about multimillionaires or larger-than-life characters: her people could be people you know, working nine-to-five jobs (though sometimes not) living in your town (as long as you’re in Ohio.) I find hers an easy world to sink into for a few hours, and I find her characters comfortable people to spend time with.
