Shenanigans at Amazon

Amazon has decided to drop all “adult” titles from their sales rankings. The interesting part is how they’re defining “adult”: John Barrowman’s autobiography Anything Goes, Mark Probst’s The Filly (a YA novel), and Alex Beecroft’s False Colors are all now stripped of their ranks, among several dozen/hundred of novels, nonfiction, biography and even the Advocate’s guide to LBGT college students.

A list of books affected is being collected at the livejournal community Meta writer. They also have some contact information if you wish to protest:

If you want to protest to Amazon direct, this is their email addy: connect-help@amazon.com

Other ways to get in touch with them: http://clicheideas.com/amazon.htm

Or write to their CEO:

Until this ridiculousness is over, I encourage you to buy directly from the publisher or use other retailers.

UPDATE: Smart Bitches Read Trashy Books has suggested updating the meaning of Amazon Rank.
